I can't think of anywhere better to relax or explore...

This is the first Gite style holiday for me in rural France and I wasn't sure what to expect. But from the moment we arrived at La Blatiere everything was just perfect. The Farmhouse was well equipped both inside and out. The outdoor eating area where we spent much of our time was just stunning, lit with fairy lights on an evening, wysteria covered and cool in the day. The best place to enjoy a cup of tea and listen to birdsong in the morning. The surrounding countryside was fanatastic for cycling or walking and a good place to meet the locals ... donkeys, horses, cows, sheep and Gordon the jack russell! The wee local town had everything you could possible need - a supermarket, boulangerie, bars and restaurants. And you're a stones throw from many stunning historic towns too. We went to Vouvant, a 20 minute drive away. A picture postcard French town. To be fair, the pictures don't do La Blatiere justice. We loved every minute. A massive hit for all three of us. La Blatiere is definitely somewhere I will return to.

We will all be back!

A total family of 10 sharing both properties (The farmhouse and The Stables). Paul and Lesley have been perfect hosts and extremely helpful. Paul had a great deal of patience explaining the workings of the plantroom and the pool to our very curious son Oscar! The children loved feeding the cows and shaking the apple tree. It was a home from home in a lovely quiet setting. We will be back at some point and the grand parents will be popping in to stay on there next trip to France early next year. Good luck to you both with your new venture. Diolch (thank you both)

Perfect

Two friends and I stayed at La Blatiere for a long weekend. We stayed in the Farmhouse - the accomodation was lovely and we enjoyed the wonderful porch area, for breakfast and dinner dining and sitting relaxing and watching the fairy solar lights come on around the property as It got dark - magical. Paul and Lesley couldn't have been more helful and welcoming - they are great hosts. The coutyard layout lets you enjoy the sun and pool which is very well maintained, but also allows for privacy. Perfect location for a relaxing family holiday or like us a long weekend - highly recommend it!

Exceeded our expectations - will be back

What a gorgeous place! Stayed in The Farmhouse gite with two friends for a girlie long weekend. My bedroom (the double on the ground floor) was sooooooo cosy and the bed was ultra-comfy. The rooms were full of charachter - next time we want to light the wood burning stove - the outside covered dinning space was also just divine, so picturesque. We ate outside the whole time, croissants, for breakfast and cheese and french bread (as you do) for lunch and dinner. Living the French dream! At night, it was so pretty with fairy lights. The pool was just perfect - in the middle of the courtyard so it was only a few stepping stones away from our door, with comfy sun loungers for relaxing. We cycled to L'Absie, the nearby little village, for coffee and cakes and there's a supermarket there with everything you need. The owners Paul and Lesley provided the bikes and we had great fun - the country lanes are virtually traffic free so you feel really safe - looking forward to coming back with my family and I'd feel happy for my 11 year old to cycle on the roads with us. There is also loads to do in the area which I'll do with the family in the future. Looking forward to visiting La Rochelle on a day trip too. The gite is easy to get to too, just about an hour and a half by hire car from Nantes airport, and the roads are easy (not to busy). Lesley and Paul were wonderful hosts - they'd thought of everything in the gite and you could tell a lot of care had gone into the place to make it comfortable and a lovely place to stay. Came back ultra relaxed, a fab weekend away. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful place, wonderful hosts, wonderful holiday!

We had been searching for the right gite for our party (parents, an 8 & 4 year old and grandparents) in the right location. Paul and Lesley had just moved into their new gite-owners lifestyle, so we lucked out with La Blatiere Farmhouse being available. We had such a wonderful stay! The area has so much for people of all ages to do - we couldnt do it all in a week. I can highly recommend Chateau Saint Mesmin if you have kids. My husband also enjoyed the go-karting and the rope adventure park only 5 minutes away. The area is also perfectly suited for leisurely cycling, and Paul ensures that there is a good selection of well maintained bikes free to use. The gite itself is spectacularly comfortable with everything you'd need. It's beautifully decorated and has a number of lovely little touches. It's so comfortable that we didnt go anywhere on the Sunday! The pool is a wonderful size, well looked after, clean and covered so is always warm. Paul and Lesley are also wonderful hosts and lovely people. They were wonderfully attentive without being too intrusive. We had such a lovely holiday and will definitely be back to La Blatiere at some point in the future.

Fabelachtig

So good we've already re-booked for next year!

Simply one of the best family holidays that we have had! The accommodation and pool were perfect and, as previous reviewers have commented, the location is great. So much to do locally but also a good base for days out - we went to Puy du Fou, La Rochelle, O'Gliss Water Park and Saumur in the Loire Valley. Our two boys (aged 12 and 15) were never bored which is quite a feat! But it was Lesley and Paul, our wonderful hosts, who really helped to make our holiday extra special. They are a really warm and welcoming couple for which nothing was too much trouble. We're looking forward to next year already!

Fantastic!

Fantastic experience; great accomodation; lots of sunny, private and comfortable indoor/outdoor spaces in the garden and around the covered pool; it's in a lovely setting in tranquil France with good access to nearby towns and villages. My group including 2 teenagers stayed for a week in July and we all had a great time - some exploring and a lot of relaxing. It's a great place to relax! And Paul and Lesley are charming, friendly hosts who made us very welcome. Will be back.
